The VISION platform explained
The VISION platform connects the different parties involved in the handling of car accidents, like the Police, Road side Service Providers, the Insurance companies, garages and car dealers and governmental institutions like the Departments of Justice, Driver licenses, Treasury, Motor Vehicles etc.
Based on their roles in the process of accident reporting and handling, parties will act as a data provider, a data consumer or a combination of both. In this way, VISION connects the demand and supply of information. The more parties participating in the platform, the larger the range of available data will be.
The VISION Community
For more information about VISION’s collaboration structure, check the description of The VISION Community
Depending on the situation in your country or on your island, the police can be either a data providing or a data consuming party in the local VISION community.
If wireless Internet facilities are available, the uploading of these data can take place either on-the-spot or at a later moment, in the office. By simply entering the data of an event into the system that connects with the VISION server, the contributor will be making information accessible to a wide range of authorized users, all at once.
In some countries, like on the islands of Curaçao and Bonaire, (Netherlands Antilles) it is a Road Service Provider that takes care of the contribution of the damage-related data.
VISION for real-time and on-the-spot information exchange
A CASE STUDY
In Curaçao, thanks to the availability of wireless Internet facilities, all details of a car accident are uploaded into the system on-the-spot by the local Road Service Provider CRS (Curaçao Road Services). The car accident data are entered into VISION via computers in the CRS vehicles, that connect wirelessly with the VISION server. In this way all authorized VISION community members in Curaçao, including the police force and insurance agencies, can access the accident data immediately after uploading.
